• John Muir was born in Dunbar, Scotland, before coming to the United States and advocating for the preservation of wild spaces in the world. Fraser painted a scene from Muir Woods in California, looking up through magnificent redwood trees to the sky. The abstract style of the painting interprets the light penetrating the canopy as stars.
